ANZAC Day

I liked learning about ANZAC Day because we celebrate it every year. It’s about our soldiers going to fight in wars far away. Lots of them died and never came home. That’s sad.

We made ANZAC sun catchers out of a poppy outline and sticky plastic which we could add red cellophane. I liked doing that and now I can see mine on the window.

Advent reflections

Advent is a good thing because it is about Jesus and we can think about him and his birth on Christmas Day. An Advent wreath has four candles, three are purple and one is  pink and the pink is for joy and the others represent Hope, Peace and Love. These are the things we need to think about during Advent and how we can make changes in our lives so we can show hope, love, peace and joy to others from now onwards.

I have enjoyed this year at school because we work really fast and get things done. I love my Maths and working out problems. I have good friends in class and I love my family at home.

Merry Christmas and have a fun holiday with your families.

Snake

This is my snake poem that I wrote after Ms Bullot taught us how to do. We had to draw a doodle and then share it with a partner. Mine was John. John gave me his. He drew a snake and I drew a dinosaur on his. Then we had to write a poem that was 5 lines long. It is called a Cinquain Poem. I like mine because it’s a slithery snake.\

Our Whanau

In RE this term we are talking about our WHANAU  and all our similarities and differences. No one’s family is the same and that is what makes each whanau special.

We learned about an artist who makes pictures of whanau using the koru shape. I drew my whole family with the koru shape and then I coloured it with wax crayons. In the end I even dyed it blue. I can tell you who is  in my whanau.

Weaving a Matariki Kite

We have been learning about Matariki and we read a story about the “Seven Kites of Matariki.” We started to make our own kites. We used a brown paper bag and cut it into two pieces. Then I painted one side green. We wove our two colours together, going under and over.

The handles had to be connected together with twine. Then I plaited the red, black and white twine to make the tail. I chose a green feather and some fern leaves to finish it off.

My Sea Creature

We have been thinking about different Sea creatures that live in our seas. We had to make a description of one but not use it’s name. Can you guess what it is?

My sea creature is an octopoda with eight tentacles.

My sea creature has three hearts and it stalks crabs.

My sea creature can camouflage itself and go through small spaces.

My sea creature hunts at night time.

IT IS A………………………………….

This is another Sea Creature that I drew on Google Drawings:
